This is the finished bench that I built. Water was getting under the foundation and into the crawlspace, creating an area of standing water.

The stains show the path the water took to get under the house.
This very odd planter was along the home owner's patio. During heavy rains, water would get into the planter and work it's way through the bricks and down into the crawlspace.
Over the years of being wet, the morter failed, and allowed water to get through.

After digging out the dirt in the planter, I sealed off the mortor with silicone based sealer.

Then I covered the bricks and mortor with Drylock. It is a waterproof membrane designed for masonary applications. I covered the silicone seal and brought it down over the cement footings.

Then I filled in the hole with cement.

The house had another planter that wasn't causing any problems. It had raised brick around it that kept the water out. I did the same thing to finish off this repair by using bricks that are taller than the patio deck.

The home owner wanted a place to put potted plants that she could enjoy from her windows. I designed it to match the garden fence and arbor that I had already made for her.
